This course is designed for teachers who have just embarked on teaching IELTS preparation and those with some experience in this area. Participants seeking to broaden their understanding of preparing students for the IELTS Speaking test will also gain practical takeaways from the course.
The course aims to give teachers comprehensive knowledge about IELTS Speaking and detailed practical guidance to help prepare students for this test. In this course, teachers will first revise and deepen their understanding of the IELTS Speaking test format, requirements, and assessment criteria in detail to be able to provide their students with accurate and up-to-date information. Course participants will then delve into the skills as well as some language that candidates need to perform effectively in all three parts of the Speaking test. Each skill will be dealt with thoroughly, providing teachers with a practical model of how exactly they can train students in the classroom. Teachers will also learn how to assess students’ performance throughout a preparation course and provide them with actionable feedback. A part of the course is also devoted to common problems students face when preparing for and taking the test. Course participants will analyse the reasons behind such problems and find hands-on solutions to tackle them. At the end of the course, teachers will summarise the key skills students need for the test and decide on the order and ways in which these skills can be trained effectively.
