Flashcards are one of the classic teaching tools. They promote learning through active recall, which is one of the practices through which our brains learn most effectively.

In this course we are going to:

  • look at the features of flashcards
  • analyse the most efficient ways to use flashcards in the classroom for teaching vocabulary and grammar
  • demonstrate the ways teachers can use flashcards for controlled and freer practice as well as for revision
  • look at ways to use flashcards in YL and adult classrooms
  • provide you with some ideas for making your own flashcards

After taking this course, you will be better able to use flashcards as an effective tool in your teaching practice.
