When we are starting out as teachers, or even when we proceed to take part in other teacher training programmes, we learn certain rules: “You need to speak simply, or “grade the task, not the text”, or even “you should ask instruction checking questions (ICQs) when giving instructions to check that students know what to do”. But, are all of these things true ALL of the time?  In this webinar, we’re going to look at some of the ”golden rules” of teaching that we learn early on in our careers and examine them critically from an evidence- and research-based perspective - and, in doing so, understand how we can better support our students in their lessons. Participants will leave with practical suggestions for how to interact effectively with and create learning materials for a variety of levels and contexts.
